Devices for medical use – a tool, instrument, apparatus, equipment, material or other article, used alone or in combination, including software necessary for the proper use of the product, intended by the manufacturer for use in humans for the purpose of diagnosing, preventing and monitoring the course of diseases.

Only medical devices marked with the CE mark may be placed on the market and put into service.
